The Church’s “BUSY” Season
“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Dear Friends,
I always get a little stressed when the first Sunday of Advent falls in November! That means that somehow on Thanksgiving weekend, we have to get the church decorated for the Hanging of the Greens service, we have to put up all the thanksgiving decorations and get ready for Christmas. There are children’s costumes to pull out , clean, iron and size up, there are wreaths to buy (not too early or they die but if you wait too long, they are gone!), the tree to get up, the Advent candle lighting families to be assigned, the lighting of the town tree and the arrival in the village of Santa with gifts, getting the tags on the Angel Tree for St. James-Santee school, scheduling a blood drive, sending the shoe boxes off, and the list goes on and on and on… so much of it takes place before the first of December. Not to mention we are still receiving stewardship pledges and there is the 2026 budget to put together. BUT…. I remind myself this is also a time for thanksgiving, and we have SO MUCH to be thankful for at New Wappetaw and in the Village. And I personally have so much to be thankful for as your pastor.
SO… mark your calendars and join us for the activities you can be involved in without being stressed.
See upcoming opportunities below.
Blessings,
Mike
