Each year just before school starts, school supplies and clothing are gathered by Presbyterians of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery. The purpose is to meet the basic needs of children while showing them Christ’s love. The New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church hosts this event for the north end of Charleston County. In addition to supplies collected by the Presbytery, our congregation also collects supplies and clothing and several local adults and children help with distribution of supplies to children who need them. It is interesting to watch the experienced staff set up at about 3 P.M. for distribution starting at 5 P.M. They can bring abundant clothes and school supplies into a room in 20-30 minutes, then prepare them for display. The group likes coming to McClellanville as they enjoy the shrimp sandwiches and other snacks provided by our members. Come watch them function next year.
