Good News

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news”

Isaiah 52:7

We call the gospel ‘good news’, and I would like to think that almost all communications within the church are bringing good news but…. How do we get the news to the folks in our congregation? That is the bane of my existence as your pastor. We communicate many, many ways but I’m not sure the messages are being received, so please help me and the leaders in the church by assuring that we have the correct contact information for you and your family.

In the next few weeks, we will be giving everyone a form to update home addresses, MAILING addresses, cell phone numbers, email addresses and any other means of communicating that you use. We also need contact information for our college students and military so we can keep in touch, and our nurture team can send ‘care packages a few times during the school year.

Every Monday morning, I change the sign in front of the church reminding you all (and those who drive by the church) what is happening during the week or events planned for the next Sunday. Every Monday I send out by e-mail, ‘Mike’s Monday Message’, which will also list upcoming events. So much of the information we currently send out doesn’t get to you or goes unread, and alas, folks come to church not remembering that we have a covered dish luncheon that day, or we have a collection for the ECCO food drive or that we have communion or a baptism that Sunday. I like to be prepared, and I trust that you do also. Please know that I appreciate feedback on our ministry so don’t be shy sharing your ideas on how we can make improvements to our worship service or in any aspect of our mission and ministry.

One improvement coming up is a new format of our prayer list. We will be listing the person needing prayers, their relation to the church (members) and their contact information so you all can send them a card or reach out to them.

Yesterday was a BIG day in worship as we celebrated a baptism and welcomed new folks into the church. We have more folks joining in the next few weeks and at least four families with upcoming baptisms, so you see, keeping the congregation informed IS important.

Have great week and stay warm

Blessings,

Mike
