Christmas Presents and Christmas Presence

“You fill me with joy in your presence.”

Psalm 16:11

Dear friends,

Christmas may be the time of the year when we most focus on presents and presence. The two words sound alike and have similar meanings from a theological viewpoint. With the birth of Jesus, God gave us the best of all presents (gifts) by being present with us (presence). Emmanuel means “God with us.”

To bring that closer to home, your presence here at New Wappetaw is a “present” for me. It has been a real blessing to see the church growing and the sanctuary pews full. But more importantly is your presence in this community. When things happen in the village, I am always amazed to see how many local leaders are in our church family. Know that I appreciate all you ALL do for the community and this congregation. Your presence makes a difference in our ministry.
