God’s Faithfulness

“The faithfulness of the Lord endures forever”

Psalm 117:2

Dear Friends,

This coming Sunday, November 2nd, we will have a service for All Saints and gather at the Lord’s table. All Saints is a time to remember those faithful saints who introduced us to the faith. Having a 35-year connection with New Wappetaw I am so thankful for those who have kept this ministry going for over 150 years. But I hope we all know our faithfulness can’t begin to compare with God’s faithfulness.

Yesterday, I left our service a few minutes early so Rosemary and I could attend the 70th anniversary service and luncheon at Yeamans Park Presbyterian in Hanahan. There have been times in the last decade when that congregation wasn’t sure it would survive and today it is thriving! On Sunday, November 16, we will have a service at Old Wappetaw Cemetery which dates back to 1697! When I reflect on the ministry of these three churches, for 70 years or 150 years or over 300 years, I am reminded why “Great is Thy Faithfulness” is one of my favorite hymns. At the Montreal youth conferences they always have this shouting match… “God is faithful… all the time …and then… All the time… God is faithful.”

In challenging times, let us remember that!

Have a blessed week,

Mike
