Feeding the Flock

“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…”

Matthew 25:35

Dear Friends,

Today, on behalf of the nurture team, we mailed notes and Chick-fil-A cards to our college students. When I was in Seminary and we were on a budget, I remember our friends from Yeamans Park Presbyterian would send us ten dollars so we go out and have pizza one night, which was a real treat!

I’m pretty sure our college students aren’t in need of a meal, but I hope these notes and gift cards remind them that the church cares for them, that we are praying for them and we look forward to seeing them when they come home and attend worship. Our college students are a real blessing to me because they DO come to worship when they are home and they attend during summer breaks. That is a real compliment to you all, the parents. It shows you raised them in the church, and I hope while they are “away,” they know they are still important members of our church family.

This Sunday there will be a listing of our college students in the bulletin. The next time you see one of them, let them know you are praying for them, and you are glad to see them. And know that I am praying for YOU during this stewardship season when we are reflecting on our personal commitments and participation in the life of our church.
