A tradition started over 30 years ago by the late Reverend George Fletcher, a bare “mitten tree” is placed in the entrance to the church in December to be covered by donations of mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats. These donations are sent to needy children in the Appalachian mountains. Reverend Fletcher was a native of the Appalachians.
