Mike was raised in North Charleston and graduated from R.B. Stall High School. He holds degrees from USC, The College of Charleston, and Columbia Seminary. In addition, he has certificates in Real Estate and Interior Design. He received his Master Gardener designation from Clemson University in 2005. Mike and Rosemary were married in 1972 and are parents to a daughter Jennifer (Matt) and two grandchildren Savannah and Will.
Mike’s involvement in the church includes serving as an elder at Yeamans Park Presbyterian, serving on the staff of Foothills and Charleston Atlantic Presbyteries, serving on the board of the Synod of South Atlantic, attending several General Assembly meetings, chairing Congregational Development in two Presbyteries and teaching New Church Development across the country. He currently serves on the Commission on Ministry for CAP.
Mike was called to New Wappetaw in 1991 following seminary. He served as organizing pastor of the Providence Presbyterian church in Greenville (1995-2007) and as organizing pastor of Palmetto Presbyterian in Mt. Pleasant (2007-2022). Upon his retirement in September 2022, Mike was named Pastor Emeritus of Palmetto Presbyterian.
Mike and Rosemary reside in Mt. Pleasant with their miniature dachshund Sadie.
Susan McAdoo
Pianist and Choir Director
Susan McAdoo is a solo and collaborative pianist, teacher, vocal coach, and choir director. She has performed in Spoleto, Piccolo Spoleto, in numerous concerts throughout the East Coast, as well as Europe and Asia. A dedicated educator, Susan loves sharing her passion with students of all ages and maintains an active piano studio. Before moving to Charleston, she served on the piano faculty at Campbell University and UNC-Chapel Hill. As the pianist for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Susan has worked with many esteemed conductors. She has sung with the Westminster Choir, Duke Chapel Choir and Schola Cantorum, as well as locally with the CSO Chorus and Taylor Festival Choir. She holds performance degrees from Westminster Choir College and UNC-Chapel Hill.
